Well the Power supply is here and I have taken the plunge and bought the software recomended by Ben - Now I am really pulling my hair out - Definatly not as easy as it looks.

Can anybody tell me what these conections are

Eric, i know its a pain in the ass but its worth it in the long run! Smile

last 3 on the right of the picture are earth, neutral, live

The right hand side looks like suplementrys for auto spindle and cut off etc, whats the make of it, they should have a manual, the middle looks like auto cut of for micro switches

AAHHHH I couldnt think of what the L was for we call it active here
Its been a while and I have been really busy but I have continued to work with the software while accumulating some parts and knowledge.

Although there is a lot of info on the net there is still lots you need to work out for yourself.

I at first set it all up in my workshop with a old genuine IBM computer and could not get the computer to talk to the Steppers via the Paralell port and controller board Angry. I wasted about a month and a half of my spare time trying to get it all going and was very disapointed and thought I may have had faulty parts or purchased the wrong ones.

I was nearly ready to give up and not waste any more time or money on this grand project (I actualy was wondering how much I could ask on FleeBay and get shot of the lot as a unfinished project) when I realised I had enough parts sitting about from various computer upgrades to make up another computer I just dont have a case but can do without and I had to borrow the power supply from my main desktop.

I set it all up and unbelievable it worked the steppers were not running randomly all over the place when I powered it up. Not really believing that I had finally won the fight with this beast of a thing I loaded some simple G code and started it up and it ran the code perfectly. You cant imagine my feelings after all the time money and anguish IT REALLY F@*&KING WORKS Big Grin I dont believe it so I run the cde again and IT REALLY F@*&KING WORKS Big Grin

Slowly I am getting to know the software to the stage I have hooked up the bourd and motors and run a cut for a small hole. Here is a video which to you is not much but to me it is a monumental acumplishment

Hi Eric, it's great you have made a breakthrough on this project. Have you been thinking about your next steps yet? Did you buy that x/y transform base, or have you decided to go with fixed base?
This is what we are useing whith a fixed pedistal for the Z Axis. Just waiting for the Ball Screws and some couplings to finish and mount it

Just cutting some simple disks to use as motor mounts. They came out well.
Its about bloody time Eric!!! Looking nice! Thats it now, everything you can find will be milled and drilled by CNC - another hobby!

Yes I have made a few things already. Some of my much loved and most frequently flown models now have plywood ESC and receiver mounting positions instead of them being stuck to the side of the fus.
I realy need to spend a bit of time with my drawing program so I can make some more complex parts

Good to see you are still around. Are you doing any flying. The weather here has been very bad with strong wind most days.
Yes, still flying - Mainly Slope flying though (I always have been a slope basher one with nature and relaxation and all that)

I use Rhino if that helps, its not the easiest but it just works for me, i downloaded loads and loads of trials first, like Auto Cad i could not get on with for some reason?

Have a look on CNCZone.com or Mach3 forums, people give out free stuff for cutting! Im just in the process of revamping my Machine!

I had to replace a few microchips over the harsh winter months, i guess the cold got to it, so if you dont use your machine for a while and its cold in the garage get and old sleeping bad to wrap it up in!
