Hi Rich!

Its not so much that the range is bad on 2.4ghz for the Transmitter, is that it will conflict with the 2.4ghz wireless transmitter we can only safely use here in the UK

I would recomend getting a cheap 35mhz Futaba like FF7/7CAP on ebay for quite cheap, then you can use either Firstpersonview.co.uk 2.4ghz wirless package, or immersionRC goodies along with the Futaba radio

i only say Futaba as most of the head trackers work really well with this radio (its what i use and love it) like the flytron.com DT-3K head tracker (see the reviews on the left hand side, i have one too)

Thats a good combination!

Dont worry about range just yet, i have the fatshark video goggles that work really well for 800 meters, i know that does not sound long range, but thats is more than fine! i very rarely fly past 600 meters and have lots of fun!

Another thing what is your price range? as some systems are alot of money! Smile
Hi Richie!

Welcome!
Your equipment sounds good, please report if your fpv gear arrive.

You are using 2,4GHz for rc radio, which video downlink frequency you want to use?

Hi Cosha,

Thanks for the information, I should probable have editred my post to say that i'd like the video range to match the radio range, not the frequency! I already have a Futaba 9c and 149DP. As these were recommended to me a while back by someone on RCgroups. Hopefully the IR stabilizer will make it easier to fly as itll keep the plane straight and level. I have already tested it with a video camera onboard and as soon as i flip the switch the plane locks onto a dead straight course!

My Budget for the video tx/rx is about £180, excl Video Goggle or a monitor, Im not sure whether to get a small LCD monitor or video goggles. I had a look on the two websites you suggested and they also mention that 800m is about the max Range with 10mw 2.4ghz. Whilst Googling i found out that Rangevideo also do a 2.4ghz 500mw set which is supposed to reach 3km. But i understand that may be a tad illegal in this country!

Ideally id like to be able to go around 2km to get some aerial footage of the Bay near where i live, and they only nice landing take off spot is about 1.5km away. But your right I should probably get a standard Uk spec system first.

Thanks for the advice, ill let you know what 2.4 system i get Smile

Hi Granfcaravan,

Unfortunately I think we are restricted to 10mw 2.4 in the UK Sad . Therefore I dont have much of a choice, I guess 900mhz would be best!

Ill let you know once Its on the plane!

Rich
Id rather you used ImmersionRC Video Link:

Better Service, and nice all round!

I have the:

10mw 2.4ghz VTX From ImmersionRC

500mw 2.4ghz VTX From ImmersionRc (shhhh) Tongue

EZOSD From ImmersionRC

Hi there!

Today I have here a little update for you!

Because of installing EzOSD in my Twin-Star I have to change the "interior design" Big Grin
Uhh, everywhere cables ... I love this...

There are my Futaba 35MHz receiver with 1/2 Lambda-antenna and external 5A BEC.

Here you can see my Twin-Star trunk:

This is the right place to install an OSD!
Tomorrow I'll check the gps quality with closed plastic cover.
I'll let you know Wink

Best regards
Heiko
Updates?
Yes, Jason!
Still editing a video Wink
And still waiting Wink
Hi!

The first video can be found here: RC Problems with external BEC

Now editing a second video Big Grin
Stay tuned!

he already has some ferrite rings that do the same thing! so with ferrite rings and twisted wires your doube safe from noise to the servo

Hello Cosha,

any idea/recommendation of type or parameters of ferrite rings? I was today in the shop and there is many of types differing not only by size, but also by electric parameters.

Thank you very much
