Deutsche Anleitung: Zeitstempel entfernen - Key Chain Spy Camera #3

Hi!
For a few days a tutorial on how to remove the timestamp on popular spycams is available. Based on the guides of Chuck Lohr and Jameson, we created a more detailed step-by-step guide for you.
Attention: Doing this firmware modification may damage (brick) your camera forever! It may also degrade quality of recording! Process only at your own risk! The modification will only work on #3 Spycams!

This firmware modification only works on Windows 32bit systems! You can easily install the webcam driver on 64bit systems, but the firmware flasher won’t work correctly. You may damage your camera on 64bit systems.

Please note: On some cameras the MicroSD card has to be insert to enter the webcam mode!

Let’s start!

1) Create a folder on a place of your choice. We are using E:\Downloads\Keycam\ for this guide.
Unzip all data from the following archive into this directory.

Please now start the webcam driver installation by clicking on SPCA1528_V2237_WebCam_Eng.exe
Just follow the instructions to successfully install the needed drivers.

After the installation is finished, open the file ISP.ini. Scroll down a little bit and change the path into your direction of your spycam folder. We have to modify the following paths:
  • ParamFile
  • IspFile
  • FwFile
Please only change the path, not the file extensions!

2) Plug in the spycam into a USB-port while push and hold the mode-button (near the lens). You can release the button until the LED is on. The spycam will now go into the webcam mode.

3) Start the application ISP_1528.exe. Please first click on the button Ver. Check.

The following firmware data will be displayed:

If the information are not the same as in the screenshot, please cancel immediately and start the process again.

4) After the firmware data was displayed correctly, click the button Read [F6]. Now select your spycam folder (here: E:\Downloads\Keycam\).
Press OK and wait until all data is downloaded from the camera to your spycam folder on your PC.
Your program window should look like the following screenshot, if all files have correctly saved:

[attachment=905]

Close the application ISP_1528.exe.

5) As next step is to open Notimestamp.exe! Select the file 1528.bin.brn as source file. Destination file will be inserting automatically (here 1528.bin).

After both paths were inserting correctly, press the button Patch! Execute the application.

6) Remove the spycam from USB and reset the camera with a straightened paper clip.

7) Again connect the spycam in webcam mode and open ISP_1528.exe.
Make sure, that you have a stable connection by clicking on Ver. Check:

Press the button ISP [F5] and select the following files:
  • Parameter File: SYS_REG_DS64_D96C96_SPI_12Mhz.TXT
  • ISP Core File: ISP_SPI.BIN
  • ISP Firmware File: 1528.bin

[attachment=907]

Check the 3 paths carefully, than press OK.
Now you have to be a little patient. Please wait until the program has finished the firmware write successfully, don’t click anything!
The ISP software looks dead (because no activity indicated), but be patient and wait approximately 1 minute!

After the job has finished, close the program, remove the spycam from your USB and make a reset!

If the camera now seems dead, you can try the following trick:
Connect your spycam again with your PC (without pressing any keys) and wait until the LED comes on, then you immideately remove the spycam!
The camera should turn on and off in the normal way now Wink

We are through! You successfully removed the timestamp of your spycam! You can now capture beautiful videos without the annoying timestamp!

We hope, you have enjoyed our howto. We’re looking forward to read your feedback!

Thanks a lot
It worked for me
Except the last step, never got the "write OK" message.
I was a bit worried but the cam is OK with no timestamp anymore
Thanks for your feedback, Delse Smile
Up to now, I flashed approx 20 of this key chain spy cams following this procedure!

My bad , wish I had seen it a month ago ...sorry .
Also works in linux, running winXP in VirtualBox... Some extra things need to be done..
First you must get usb working in virtualbox..
(if it is not, ask mr google)

Then you must add the cam to virtualboxs usb filter..

And when using the ISP_1528.exe, and doing read and write. The cam will disconnect iself for a short time just before the read and the write happens, when it do that you must be very fast on connecting it again by pressing the down right usb icon in virtualbox and press the check button for the cam...

So you will need to use the stupid windows in a box, but there is no need to boot up a computer with it (that would suck, he he)
Penguin power !!!
Cool - Ill use it on 2 of mine and send the link to a few of my friends as well
