Hi Everyone,
I'm designing new OSD. It's code name is SimpleOSD. OSD prices very high, sizes is bigger and have more screen crap(temperature, lines, horizons, etc) Also, I have an OSD like this and useless. More information is not important for me, i want to watch the landscape and just i need battery info and may be where is the home. Anyway, my new design; - Price is under USD100, - Base device is only have battery voltage and capacity options, - It's supporting external GPS module, if you want more.(altitute, home, position) - Onboard 10-40mW video transmitter option for simplicity. it resolving reverse polarity wires, burning tx and all problems about wiring and tx. Design just finished, Printed circuit boards will be finish in 3 weeks. Ok, this is my question for you; I want to produce it with different option. Code name is "Armed OSD", and eveything same with SimpleOSD and have extra Infrared laser gun and target. It will fire with laser if you press the trigger from your tx., gun shot sounds over video tx audio channel, count the bullets, count the shot by another plane for dogfighting. Is it good idea? or not? If not no problem i ordered infrared laser designators, I will fight with my friend

RE: Dogfighting OSD with Laser Gun
Hi Melih!
Thanks for posting your project discription here ![]() Your idea with SimpleOSD is not bad, i like it! You are definitely right, there are a lot of OSD with a huge load of information and no place to enjoy the landscape! Your second idea with ArmedOSD is spectaular, like it so much after your few words Very good idea, you have to continue this project!!!Did you have any more infos, about the range of laser and so on? Uhh, so interessting! Best regards Heiko The FPV-Community on Vimeo |

RE: Dogfighting OSD with Laser Gun
Hi Heiko,
I'm happy for you like it. Laser range depends, lens focusing quality and IR receiver's quality. Laser bullet range will be arround 200-300 meter in daylight or may be more. It's enough for small airplanes. May be i can design a machinegun for ground forces ![]() Ps: Laser power will only 5mW for protecting eyes and legal requirements. |

RE: Dogfighting OSD with Laser Gun
Wow sounds really cool!
I am more interested in the OSD.... All i think OSD needs is Battery & Home & altitude?! Can you desin this? There is alot of OSD around, but i cant afford them because they come with too many extras! ![]() maybe design a simple OSD for budget FPV people like myself who LOVE flying but cant keep up with the costs! RE: Dogfighting OSD with Laser Gun
Hi Cosha,
Yes, this is my staring point. My first OSD was, mission computer with 512Kbit waypoint memory, 6 channel autopilot, 2 extra sensor input, bla bla bla bla... But just a crap. I understand this when i fly with my friend's "F16 cocpit" Range OSD. Displaying perfect informations but i want to fly like a bird, not like a low resolution computer game. Anyway, PCB design is ready, i just add ArmedOSD's lasergun and target pins. I will produce test PCB in this week and then order the PCBs. |

Thanks for the info Melih!
I am looking forward to your SimpleOSD, if it is possible i want to have the following functions:
This would be very nice! I want to enjoy the landscape not the "low resolution computer game" Good night ![]() Heiko The FPV-Community on Vimeo |

RE: Dogfighting OSD with Laser Gun
Hi Heiko,
I cant understand the second battery? Why you are using it?, Because SimpleOSD is 5Volt system, one 2S,3s,4S powerpacks can support tx and osd and some cameras. I'm going to my workshop for making some headtrackers and finishing this test PCB. ![]() Melih |
